Electrician Based in Woodbridge
We are based in Woodbridge, so jobs here are a short drive for us. The housing here splits roughly in two: older homes near the village core around Islington Avenue and Woodbridge Avenue, along Market Lane and off Kipling, many from the 1950s to 1970s; and newer, larger houses in Sonoma Heights, Vellore and East Woodbridge.
Older Woodbridge houses
Homes from that earlier period can still have 60A or 100A services, two-prong outlets, and few or no GFCI outlets in kitchens and bathrooms. Some houses from the late 1960s and 1970s used aluminum branch wiring; you can sometimes spot “AL” stamped on the cable jacket where it is visible in an unfinished basement. Flickering lights, outlets that feel warm, or breakers that trip when the microwave and kettle run together are worth getting checked.
A 60A service rarely supports central air, a renovated kitchen and an EV charger together. Moving to 200A involves replacing the panel, usually the meter base and service cable, an ESA permit and inspection, and coordinating the power cut and reconnection with Alectra. It is typically a one-day outage, with paperwork before and after.
Multigenerational homes and suites
Plenty of Woodbridge families have parents or adult kids living downstairs. Wiring a basement suite means separate circuits for a second kitchen and laundry, interconnected smoke and CO alarms, and often a subpanel. The City of Vaughan has its own rules for second units, including fire separation, which are separate from the electrical permit.
Newer subdivisions
In Sonoma Heights and Vellore, it’s mostly EV chargers, pot lights, finished basements, and exterior lighting for porches and backyards.
Wiring work in Ontario generally needs an ESA notification and inspection. We file it and give you the certificate when the job passes.

Woodbridge FAQ
Can I keep my aluminum wiring?
Often yes, if the connections are redone with devices and connectors rated for aluminum. Full replacement is the other route. We’ll show you what we find before recommending either.
Is my old fuse box a problem for insurance?
Many insurers ask about fuse panels and low-amp services. Ask yours directly; if they want an upgrade, we can do it and provide the ESA paperwork.
Can you add outlets to a plaster-and-lath room?
Yes, though it takes more care than drywall. We fish from the basement or attic where possible.
